Stainless Steel Box Section
Our stainless steel rectangular and square hollow section is stocked in a variety of grades and sizes but can also be cut to any given specifications to meet your unique requirements. They can be pre-polished to all the various industry-standard finishes, making them perfect for everything from catering equipment to structural frameworks and other general metalwork. The stainless steel box section we stock is typically welded from strip or plate, with outside dimensions of 15 x 15mm to 150x 150mm and wall thickness of 1.2mm to 6mm. Mild Steel Box Section
Mild steel box section, also referred to as mild steel hollow section or ERW tube, comes in either square or rectangular box format and is used all over the globe for general fabrication and construction. This is thanks to its material properties being suited to many different applications coupled with its relatively low price. Aluminium box section
Metal Supplies™ provide a wide range of aluminium box section products, in rectangular, square, imperial and metric sizes, to both commercial and domestic customers. We can offer these versatile hollow section components in a variety of lengths and grades, meeting exact and non-standard specifications and sizes thanks to our quick-turnaround cutting service. Furthermore, we are able to polish, anodise and powder coat your square section items before despatch, with fast lead times.
Generally our aluminium hollow section is supplied in Grade 6063 or 6082.
6063 is a medium strength aluminium alloy, frequently described as an ‘architectural alloy’ and is typically used for complex or detailed extrusions. It has an attractive surface finish, high corrosion resistance, can be anodised and is readily welded. This makes it perfect for box section, as well as architectural applications, extrusions, irrigation tubing, shop fittings and window frames.
Grade 6082 is also a medium strength alloy, offering excellent corrosion resistance again and is widely used for light to medium strength applications; it’s the alloy most commonly used for machining. It has the highest strength of the 6000 series alloys, is easily formed and welded and is known for its strength and hardiness after heat treatment.
